Undergraduate Research - Radiation Intensity Measurements and Computations for Turbulent Combustion Applications

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division is interested in receiving proposals for the development of novel solutions/concepts to the areas of Radiation Intensity Measurements and Computations for Turbulent Combustion Applications. Example problems include: (1) fundamental studies of turbulent jet diffusion flames, (2) fire structure interaction studies using impinging turbulent buoyant diffusion flames, (3) multiphase flow and radiation effects in unsteady turbulent jet spray flames with high liquid loading, (4) combustion instabilities in bluff body stabilized turbulent premixed flames, (5) high speed exhaust plumes from gas turbine and pulsed detonation combustors , and (6) fundamental studies of bluff body stabilized laminar diffusion flames.
