This Single Source Award is being made in accordance with Department of Interior Policy 505 DM 2.14 B(1), which allows for award without competition to an applicant who is uniquely qualified to perform the activity based on a number of criteria. In this case, Ecological Research and Training is organizing the Capacity Building for Conservation conference to be held in Colombia in February 2013 and is uniquely qualified to conduct this work. The conference will provide an important forum for an international exchange of relevant experts and practitioners from around the world to share information, strategic solutions, best practices, and new opportunities in the area of capacity building for conservation. As the sole organizer of the conference, ERT wants to ensure the greatest possible legacy for the conference and as such will contract a film production company to develop and deliver a short film that will cover the core thematic areas of the conference program to highlight the importance of capacity building for conservation and the outcomes of the conference. The film company will travel to Colombia to film during the actual conference and will widely distribute the final product through a range of media at a very reasonable cost given its interest in conservation issues around the world.
