Weber River Watershed Improvements to Enhance BCT Habitat

This is a Notice of Intent to award a Cooperative Agreement to Trout Unlimited, for the purpose of restoring BCT habitat in the Weber River, UT. The tasks to be performed under this agreement are as follows: Research and apply velocity, gradient and depth criteria to ensure passage by the primary species at the lower Weber River diversion fish passage structure. TU will construct a pool/weir fish ladder with laterally placed gaps within the boards to facilitate upstream passage for juvenile BCT and other fish species. TU will design, engineer, re-build and install the baffles and artificial substrates in the Strawberry Creek culvert in such a way that the primary fish species can pass through the culvert and reach available upstream fish habitat. TU will remove the Gordon Creek barrier and make improvements that allow the primary fish species to pass the obstruction and reach available upstream fish habitat; the work will include an in-stream step-pool complex and/or riffle re-construction. This Single Source Award is being made in accordance with Department of the Interior Policy 505 DM 2.14 B 1) Unsolicited proposal - The proposed award is the result of an unsolicited assistance application which represents a unique or innovative idea, method or approach which is not the subject of a current or planned contract or assistance award, but which is deemed advantageous to the program objectives, which allows for award without competition to an applicant.
