United States Renal Data System (USRDS) Special Study Centers (U01)

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), Division of Kidney, Urologic and Hematologic Diseases (DKUHD) wishes to fund approximately two or three Special Studies Centers (SSCs) that will work with United States Renal Data System (USRDS) to carry out biomedical or economic studies in late stage Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) or dialysis patients. Each SSC will design, pilot, and conduct at least one special study during the grant period and also analyze existing datasets. The USRDS Coordinating Center will assume the overall project coordination and registry data construction functions. This initiative will be undertaken through the joint efforts of the NIH/NIDDK Division of Kidney, Urologic and Hematologic Diseases, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and in close collaboration with the United States nephrology and renal transplant communities and the major specialty organizations.
