Training of Youth in Fisheries Conservation

 

The opportunities available under this agreement are as follows: Hands on work and training in natural resource conservation, fish hatchery operations, broodstock management, fish health lab operations, and public/visitor education. Training and work performed with Service personnel. Will be introduced to various natural resource careers and provided real life work experience. Individuals will be given an opportunity to serve in a seasonal or year round assignment. Will be provided feedback for their future growth and may receive consideration for future employment with the USFWS.

Who is eligible to apply/benefit from this assistance?
Applicant Eligibility
A. This is a Notice of Intent to award a Single Source Cooperative Agreement to the Student Conservation Association. The funds are intended to provide an introductory developmental educational experience of natural resource careers, specifically fisheries related careers, through training, hands-on experience and mentoring at the Ennis National Fish Hatchery. Interns will be introduced to natural resources careers through hands-on work with, and training by, natural resource professionals employed by the staff of both facilities. Positions will be available to young people including culturally, ethnically and economically diverse students.
What is the process for applying and being award this assistance?
Application Procedure
As auth under Dept policy (505 DM 2.14), the USFWS will award funds (contingent on annual funding levels) to SCA without competition based on SCAs unique qualifications. (See additional info in eligibility section.)
