Life History Diversity of Delta Smelt from the Otolith Analyses of the Spring Kodiak Trawl (SKT) (2005-2006 and 2010-2011 year classes)

 

University of California, Davis under the authority of catalog for domestic assistance (CFDA) 15.512, Central Valley Project Improvement Act, Public Law 102-575, Section 3406(b)(1) and 3407(e). Estimated total amount of agreement is $227,499.31, with Reclamation providing $227,499.31. The purpose of this project is to conduct a study to understand delta smelt ecology and improve our ability to predict the impacts of management actions on the endangered delta smelt and its habitat. The principal objectives of this experiment are to: (1) Determine the timing of movement to the low-salinity zone and estimate the relative proportion of freshwater resident fish that comprise the Spring Kodiak Trawl Survey, (2) Quantify the growth history of individuals in associated with life-history movements, and (3) Examine water quality and habitat conditions that effect life-history variability. (Refer to the Notice of Intent to Award Announcement No. R13AS20022 for additional information) A Determination by the Government not to compete this proposed financial assistance based upon Departmental Manual 505 DM 2, paragraph 2.14(B)(2) & (4) is solely within the discretion of the Government.
