ISSSSP Invertebrate Conservation

In January 2008, the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service (USFS) added many invertebrate species to their Special Status Sensitive Species lists. Since that time the management and understanding of these species' needs has improved and now provides for better conservation of these rare invertebrates. While some of the information needs have been fulfilled through previous partnerships, there continues to be a need for further inventory and conservation of rare invertebrates. This project entails developing survey protocols for gaining knowledge of invertebrate Special Status Species and their habitats, providing for protection, management and restoration of species sites and their overall habitats, and developing and conducting training programs for field personnel and other interested groups and organizations.
