USAID seeks applications for projects that respond to urgent or unanticipated human rights challenges or emerging windows of opportunity in the protection and promotion of human rights. DRGâ€™s Human Rights Division generally describes three pillars of programming that can support human rights promotion and protection, whichâ€”in conjunction with the time-sensitive requirement of this fundingâ€”may be illustrative of the types of programs supported through HRGP(see the attachment)

Who is eligible to apply/benefit from this assistance?
Applications should be from qualified U.S. or non-U.S. entities, such as private, non-profit organizations (or for-profit companies willing to forego profits), including private voluntary organizations, universities, research organizations, professional associations, and relevant special interest associations working in South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Namibia or Botswana or organizations interested in working in two or more countries in Southern Africa. Local organizations are strongly encouraged to apply.
