Economics, finance, and budgetary evidence to support sustainable financing, planning and decision-making for immunization programs

The project will incorporate peer-to-peer learning through the establishment of centers of excellence (COEs) in three countries. Peers who observe evidence-based decision making, rigorous immunization program costing, innovative financing and effective legislative processes in other countries are most likely to institute those practices at home. Institutionalizing these practices will signal to vaccine manufacturers that LLMICs are prepared to negotiate and purchase their products. This will help establish a fairer and more competitive global vaccine market. As they develop, these new institutional capacities and best practices will likely be generalized to meet other public financing challenges the LLMICs face. Through such innovative project initiatives, countries will potentially be more likely to achieve the 2020 GVAP Strategic Objectives.
