Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, North Atlantic Coast CESU
 
  				The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner to fund a social science study to develop a guide to hazard communication that summarizes the current state of social science knowledge about risk perception and decision making in the context of preparing for natural hazards. The study will include literature search and review, evaluation of USGS hazard communication needs, and may include laboratory experiments designed to fill gaps in existing research that are identified as "low hanging fruit" - modest research efforts that could fill important gaps.
