This project continues the partnership that began between BLM and Lassen Land and Trails Trust starting in the late 1980Ă‚Âżs. The management plan for the abandoned 86 mile segment of the Modoc Line railroad corridor that was acquired by Lassen Land and Trails Trust in 2008 and that extends from approximately 1 mile north of Wendel, California to approximately 12 miles south of Alturas, California. This abandoned segment of the Modoc Line provides access to and through approximately 43 miles of public lands administered by BLM and has excellent potential for a variety of trail uses; affords travelers on the corridor excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and provides access for hunting and fishing.
