BLM AK Copper River Weed Management Area and Watershed Initiatives

This agreement is being established to support watershed and natural resource protection and enhancement in the 26,500 square mile drainage of the Copper river and the Copper Basin Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA). Watershed and natural resource protection and enhancement may include invasive plant management within the Copper Basin Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA), fish habitat restoration and monitoring, watershed education, and cultural heritage of the Copper River watershed on both BLM-managed lands and on adjacent properties. By managing and supporting watershed and natural resource protection for the 26,500 square miles drainage of the Copper River on a landscape level, managers and regional decision makers will be encouraged to think and act on a watershed scale when planning for resource management and economic development.
