Survey of State Attorney General Offices

The SSAGO is a new component of BJSâ₏™s efforts to collect federal, state, and local data about prosecution and adjudication. The successful applicant will work with BJS to develop three surveys to measure the activities of all state AG offices related to specific topics. The first two surveys will be administered by the award recipient and the resulting data will be provided to BJS. BJS will determine the third topic after the project is awarded. To fulfill these requirements, the successful applicant will gather the information needed to define the key measures for each topic, develop the survey instruments, pretest the instruments with a small sample of state AG offices, prepare the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) package for review and approval, field the first two surveys, and conduct any follow-up activities needed. After completing data collections for each of the first two surveys, the award recipient will provide BJS with a dataset of all responses and its detailed documentation. To help BJS plan for subsequent activities in the SSAGO program, the successful applicant will prepare a report discussing the utility of the data collected and recommending survey content for future iterations beyond the third survey instrument.
